IMMIGRATION AND RELOCATION OFFICER - TWO POSITIONS HR SERVICE CENTRE, HUMAN RESOURCES REFERENCE NO. 1962/0710

The Human Resources department is responsible for managing human resources services across the University. We operate on a shared services model, providing the University of Sydney with a range of strategic human resource services and advice while undertaking a variety of operational activities.We are currently seeking to appoint two highly motivated Immigration and Relocation Officers who will advise and co-ordinate the visa, relocation and salary packaging requirements for new employee's and visitors to ensure a smooth transition to the University.Critical to this role is your ability to coordinate all aspects of international relocations for prospective employees and visitors in relation to visa and relocation policies. You will liaise with and provide information to various Faculties and Schools across the University, process all sponsored nomination application forms and facilitate visa processing and on-boarding of new employees. Your sound technical knowledge in immigration will see you documenting correspondence with applicants, University staff, and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on the HR payroll system (T2) whilst you manage and facilitate visa compliance and risk mitigation strategies. Your influencing skills will be valuable in interpreting and communicating HR policies in relation to visa, living away from home allowance and relocation policies. Furthermore, you will submit all relevant paperwork to the appropriate departments and third-party providers and liaise with business units to ensure an understanding is reached in regard to current policies and relocation services provided. The successful candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience; supported by your ability to provide expertise and experience across a broad range of Australian visa and immigration issues, high level knowledge and experience in tax and salary packing arrangements, and your ability to apply tax legislation to the University context. Equally important will be your ability to continuously keep up to date with all immigration and tax requirement changes, high level computer skills including MS office applications, and excellent problem solving skills. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your extensive immigration knowledge whilst working together with a diverse range of people across the University. Using your initiative, working well under pressure, a self motivator and thinking outside the square will be vital to the success of this position. These positions are full-time continuing subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees. (Remuneration will be commensurate with relevant qualifications, skills and experience) Remuneration package: $78,202 - $84,344 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level 6 $66,082 - $71,272 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation). Remuneration package: $85,882 - $93,563 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level 7 $72,572 - $79,062 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation).
