This publicly listed entity, which holds a solid reputation in the WA marketplace for marine services for major infrastructure projects, is currently in a position to appoint this business critical role to support the next phase of growth for the organisation. Based in the WA head office, this General Manager - HR opportunity is a senior management appointment that reports directly to the MD/CEO. They are seeking an influential, resilient individual to lead a small team of HR professionals within this highly demanding industry sector.
This strategic role requires a self motivated and visionary individual who will:
- Provide timely strategic advice on HR/IR issues and improve processes and systems to enhance business performance in Western Australia;
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key service providers and clients;
- Actively monitor resource allocation and workforce levels to ensure appropriate alignment between people, process and structure in line with current and future business requirements; and
- Engage in continuous development of appropriate training and development programs.
To succeed in this role you will possess a proactive approach and:
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations or a related field;
- At least 10 years generalist HR experience within the mining, logistics or construction sector;
- A demonstrated ability to represent the organisation when negotiating with unions and dealing with IR issues;
- A track record in the successful application and delivery of contemporary HR procedures and practices suitably aligned with business objectives;
- Sound understanding of Australian Employee Relations legislation and the Industrial Relations system and the ability to identify workplace issues in order to resolve them in a timely manner;
- Solid negotiation skills when dealing with EBAs and other IR issues, as there will be requirements to meet from three prominent unions;
- A demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships, superior communication and change management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels;
- Proactive approach to continual monitoring and review of organisational development and culture; and
- A demonstrated commitment to achieving business outcomes.
